In the mid Joseon dynasty, a woman named Kimgave birth to a darling son. When she saw the three-day old boy jumping and floating around, she thought a warrior was born and was afraid that the the entire family might be doomed should anything go wrong, and killed the boy. According to the legend, a dragon horse later appeared in search for its master, found out that he was already dead, and drowned in this lake.

Hwa'am Cave is located in the old Cheonpo Mine which produced 22,904 grams of pure gold annually between 1922 and 1945. Designed as a theme-based cave using a limestone and gold mine pit that were discovered while mining, it features amazing large stalagmites, stone pillars and stalactites of various shapes.

Hwapyoju is apair of tall stone walls standing on a clifftop 30 meters west of the three-way street coming from Hwa'amri toward Hwapyo-dong, at the entrance of Sogeumgang Gyeongguan (Scenic) Road. According to myths, the old mountain gods used to set up a shoe hanger and weave straw shoes.

Because of the legend related to “simmani” root diggers, who pray from here to the mountain gods to dig up special mountain roots, simmanis still seek out this place. About 4km into the rough valley of Gwangdaegok, visitors discover a cave, 12 waterfalls and basins.
